Eeva Syvanen
Eeva Syvanen, a realtor in San Diego, is a founder of the Finnish School in San Diego, and is serving her second term as president of the city’s Finlandia Foundation chapter, the House of Finland.
She was born and raised in Helsinki, where she attend the French School, and earned a Bachelor’s in International Marketing at the Helsinki School of Economics. Eeva, who studied several languages, was a Finnair flight attendant for 16 years before moving to California in 1994, where she worked for the Finnish Company Suunto for 10 years.
Eeva says that her three adult sons were raised to be proud of their Finnish heritage, and all are fluent in the Finnish language, culture and customs.
“Finland,” she says, “is always in my heart!”
