Tim Nurvala
Tim brings to FFN more than 20 years of experience working with non-profit organizations. He has previously served as Vice Chairman of the Finlandia Foundation – National Capital Chapter.
He grew up in New York and Connecticut in a home where the family’s Finnish heritage was celebrated. In fact, Tim learned to speak Finnish before learning English. Tim’s family moved to Florida where his parents operated the Altai Apartments, home to many vacationing Finns and Finnish-Americans during the winter months.
As a Vice President for CCS Fundraising, Tim has helped raise almost $250,000,000 for non-profit organizations such as the U.S. Naval Academy, American Red Cross, South Carolina Philharmonic, Kennedy Krieger Institute, Martin Memorial Hospital (FL), and many others. Tim has even traveled to Helsinki at the invitation of AmCham Finland and former Finnish President and Nobel Laureate Matti Ahtisaari’s Crisis Management Initiative to provide insights into American philanthropy.
Previously, Tim was President of the NVTC Foundation – a non-profit organization created to help provide disadvantaged children with access to computers and technology after school. He also worked briefly in the White House Office of Public Liaison during the President George H.W. Bush administration, assisting in the planning of White House briefings, signing ceremonies and official visits by foreign leaders.
Tim currently resides in Gladwyne, Pennsylvania and Annapolis, Maryland.
